Towards Certifying Network Calculus

چکیده
The Network Calculus (NC) [5] is an established theory for determining bounds on message delays and for dimensioning buffers in the design of networks for embedded systems. It is supported by academic and industrial tool sets and has been used, among many other applications, in the design and certification of the Airbus A380 AFDX backbone [1, 3, 4]. However, while the theory of NC is generally well understood, results produced by existing tools have to be trusted: some algorithms require subtle reasoning in order to ensure their applicability, and implementation errors could result in faulty network design, with unpredictable consequences.

Network Security for MANETS
A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a network consisting of a collection of nodes capable of communicating with each other without the help from a network infrastructure. Although security issues in mobile ad hoc networks have been a major focus in the recent years, the development of fully secure schemes for these networks has not been entirely achieved till now. MANETs have a unique characteri...
متن کاملThe Logic of Proofs as a Foundation for Certifying Mobile Computation
We explore an intuitionistic fragment of Artëmov’s Logic of Proofs as a type system for a programming language for mobile units. Such units consist of both a code and certificate component. Dubbed the Certifying Mobile Calculus, our language caters for both code and certificate development in a unified theory. In the same way that mobile code is constructed out of code components and extant typ...
متن کاملTowards Predictable Wireless Sensor Networks The Sensor Network Calculus
At the current state of a airs it is hard to obtain a predictable performance from wireless sensor networks, not to mention performance guarantees. In particular, a widely accepted and established methodology for modeling the performance of wireless sensor networks is missing. In the last two years we have tried to make a step into the direction of an analytical framework for the performance mo...
متن کاملCertifying Model Checkers
Model Checking is an algorithmic technique to determine whether a temporal property holds of a program. For linear time properties, a model checker produces a counterexample computation if the check fails. This computation acts as a “certificate” of failure, as it can be checked easily and independently of the model checker by simulating it on the program. On the other hand, no such certificate...
متن کاملPower Allocation Strategies in Block-Fading Two-Way Relay Networks
This paper aims at investigating the superiority of power allocation strategies, based on calculus of variations in a point-to-point two-way relay-assisted channel incorporating the amplify and forward strategy. Single and multilayer coding strategies for two cases of having and not having the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters are studied, respectively. Using the notion of cal...
